Macchi C.200 "Saetta"

Regia Aeronautica

North Africa, 1940 - 1941

This is a generic scheme that could very well have been used on the Channel Front during the Battle of Britain; certainly in North Africa until at least 1942, and after that on into the defense of Sicily and Italy but most likely with a green cowling instead of the yellow; and even against the Russians (with a yellow cowling). So it's good for many different campaigns.

Dominique Legrand created the skin and the original file contents are included in their own zip for whatever uses you may wish.

This was a true community project. I cleaned up the seams and made some other slight changes. I stole freely from J. Bunnelle's great C.200, particularly for the *v.tpc and *x.tpc files. Moreover he also created the *f.3dz which improved significantly on the basic 190a model. Captain Kurt took it a huge step further by eliminating the troublesome wing cannons. JWC altered the *u.3dz to remove the wing cannons from the cockpit view. The new *f.3dz and *u.3dz work great with Bunnele's C.200 also, however, as FlyRight pointed out, some of the last operational C.200s had wing guns in addition to the two nose guns. So, now there is a choice.

My thanks to all noted above. All I really did was cobble it all together.

Hope you like it. If anyone manages to improve on it please send me the files so I can upgrade and/or add to my collection.
